What children are saying about ART’s school programs...
“A long time ago when I was just in Grade 3 we did a musical called Assignment Earth. It was not until then, as I walked through the ravine by our school, that I became an environmentalist. There were shopping carts, pop bottles, cigarette packages and beer bottles. We even had to be careful to watch out for needles. If you’re wondering what effect that had on the stream, all the salmon were gone. Even though the ravine is cleaner now, it is still not clean enough. Lots of big businesses take away rivers, streams and marshes just to build more stores and shops. Our ravine is a habitat for many living things; I feel very concerned and angry that natural places are disappearing. Holly sings that what goes around, comes around; it’s OUR turn to come around.” (Lauren S., Grade 6)
“Thanks, Earth, for the things you give me, like rain to help my plants grow because we need oxygen to breath. You give sparkling rain and the blazing sun to help trees so we can have food. Thanks for the sparkling beautiful sky almost every day. Thank you for the feathered friends because when there is no one around to play with, they are there. I care a lot for you, earth, and I do not pollute the water that makes me happy. Earth, you are good to me and everyone else in this world.” (Bikram A., Grade 2)
“Hi Holly..
I'm Meghan I was one of the kids in the Strawberry Vale choir, and I was on the watershed choir CD you produced with the elementary schools. Hard to believe that was almost 7 years ago isn't it? I'm 16 now!! I saw you on Shaw TV and remembered how amazing it was to sing with you. Keep doing what you're doing. It's incredible.”
